"It is amazing that I’m sitting on the other side of the globe in old Sweden and I have a few of Katie Writer's lovely Alaska inspired paintings on my walls, including "Cosmic Night” and ”Blustery Wind” as original oils on canvas. On my 3 visits to Talkeetna, Alaska I found her art so full of energy and showing such a diversity that only can be obtained through the rich surroundings and her sharp-eyed comprehension of the Alaska life from both aerial and ground perspectives. Next item from her collection I'd like to obtain is a copy of her grandiose aerial photo, "Alaska Rails through Fall”. Many thanks, Katie! ~Sven-Olof Johansson, Sweden

"Katie has such a unique perspective of capturing the essence of this area of Alaska. The rhythm her artwork has echos the river and it’s inhabitants. "When my partner Johnny Baker died 2 years ago, we held a Celebration of his Life on the airstrip that John made on his farm. Katie Writer did a “fly over” and dipped her wing, in tribute to John. She also took a photo, and when she showed it to me, I knew I wanted an enlargement as a keepsake, to remind me of that wonderful day when so many of his friends came by to pay their respects.I also asked Katie if she would take a photo of John’s “secret” peace sign that he measured out and mowed in the upper field. It can only be viewed from the air!I chose to have the photos on metal, and they arrived this week, packed as if they were the Crown Jewels that they are! I am over-the-top happy with them!I also have 2 pieces of her original art. One is of salmon in the rivers around Talkeetna, and one of the valleys carved by Alaskan rivers, yet it reminds me of the valleys carved by lava flows in Maui, my new home. Katie is a many-talented artist!~ Grete Perkins~editor and community citizen.
"I bought Freshly Cut Flowers and Denali Sunrise and they bring such beauty to my home!" Lauri Stec, Talkeetna, Alaska
"Stunning images that take me back to the heartland ~ your eyes, heart & wings allow the magic & majesty of Alaskan seasons, moods and energy to light up my walls wherever I land! Thanks Katie & Wren!" ~Mel G. Iditarod Musher, Yoga Instructor, Colorado and India
"Katie is a cherished friend, and I am so grateful to have her art gracing my home. We have been friends since college but unfortunately have not been able to see each other for near twenty years. Recently my parents gifted me three art pieces that I chose. Although thousands of miles lie between us, her amazing art brings me closer to her beautiful heart. Katie’s curiosity and sense of adventure, and her genuine love of our planet and all living creatures who inhabit it, shines through brilliantly, expressing her unique and thoughtful perspective." Tressa Vainwright Teacher, Mother, Beautiful Woman, Austin, Texas

"Some people get to have a remarkable vantage point in life. When they share bits of what they experience, that enriches the rest of us greatly. But it can often be difficult for an artist to share their wok, risking exposure. I would like to thank Katie Writer for creating such an exceptional body of work and sharing it with the community. I went to her art show twice. I prefer to be with a piece for longer periods of time in order to get to know them. Like a more interesting conversation might take hours or days to unfold, similarly I enjoy that about their art work. I could have spent more time. I think about what I saw in her work. You get to take that with you what you see and how what you see makes you feel and then where that might lead you. Katie Writer’s show took us on a journey. The journey was one of self reflection and dreams that could be and untapped courage to manifest them. Her photographs encourage the spirit to soar and be light hearted. Her combining acrylic and oil make her bight color and depth as the paint in some place is laid down lavishly with single strokes of the brush which embrace them with kinetic feel. I like that very much. The exhibit culminated in a large abstract piece in red with geometric symmetry. I found this piece uniquely exquisite and masterful emotion rendered. In total, what a wonderful experience that I got to have in our art hangar in our little town of Talkeetna. Thank you, Katie Writer.
And with gratitude,
"Katie puts her heart and soul into everything she creates, and it shows. Her work perfectly encapsulates the joy of life in Alaska and its ever changing landscapes. Do yourself a favor and check out her art!"~ Pamela Couch
