Hello from Alaska!
As a native of Colorado, my upbringing was close to the natural world with an appreciation for art history, architecture, and design acquired from traveling worldwide at a young age and living abroad. My learning as a photo journalist began at age fourteen when I received a "fancy for a kid" 35mm Ricoh film camera that I still treasure as a relic.
As an adventurer, my first writing assignments were ski traversing over 120 miles in the Muskwa Range of British Columbia. The draw of Northern Latitudes and a BA in Geography from the University of Colorado, Boulder had me dreaming of climbing and skiing the mountains of the world. One adventure on North America's highest peak, Denali led me to my destiny to become an Alaskan Bush Pilot in Talkeetna, Alaska. My stories and photographs have been featured in Powder Magazine, AOPA Pilot, Aviation for Women Magazine, Water Flying and AOPA Flight Training. For 5 years, I reported local news for KTNA, 88.9 Talkeetna. Currently, my Podcast, All Cooped Up Alaska can also be heard on my website and Apple Podcast.
Creating oils and acrylics on canvas has enabled another form of meditation to balance my logical brain as a journalist and deep thinker, Since 2014, my paintings and photography have been featured in 3 one-woman art openings at The Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe as well as group shows at the Denali Arts Council Hanger. My prints and photographs are displayed at the Dancing Leaf Gallery in Talkeetna, Alaska.
With a bird's eye view with my Super Cub, I have been documenting climate change impacts in South Central Alaska for 15 years. AOPA Pilot Magazine featured my 8-page story and photographs in an article, "General Aviation's Role in Documenting Climate Change." October, 2020 issue. AOPA Pilot Magazine Link to Story
After a year of building an assortment of photography and art highlighting the visual impacts of climate change, my biggest art opening to date happened on May 15th, 2021 at the Talkeetna Community Arts Hangar. The local radio station, KTNA ran a story about the opening. It was a wonderful opening for the first time since the pandemic and people were happy to gather.

Alaska Press Club holds an awards every May to recognize excellence in journalism. My AOPA story, "Witness To Change~General Aviation's Role in Documenting Climate Change" won third place in the "Best Magazine Feature Stories". This was a huge honor on May 1st, 2021 in which my photography was also recognized for it's story telling impacts.
